What Do China’s Latest DevOps Maturity Assessments Reveal About Enterprise Success?

Large enterprises worldwide have found that standardization and tool empowerment are key to success. The DevOps standards and a standard‑based continuous delivery pipeline platform can significantly improve quality and efficiency, making enterprises more secure, agile, and competitive.

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) has issued the “R&D Operations Integration (DevOps) Capability Maturity Model” series of standards, which guide DevOps implementation. Banks, securities, telecom and internet companies have participated in CAICT assessments, improving related IT capabilities.

Certificates from this batch will be awarded at the “2022 GOLF+ IT New Governance Leadership Forum” on January 6 2023. The latest batch passed the Continuous Delivery Standard, Technical Operations Standard, Application Design Standard, Security and Risk Management Standard, System and Tool Platform‑Level Standard, and System and Tool Module‑Level Standard. The evaluated enterprises and projects are shown in the following figures.

To date, 65 leading enterprises across six major state‑owned banks, joint‑stock banks, city commercial banks, internet, securities, insurance and telecom sectors have participated, totaling 216 projects. The breakdown by industry is shown in the subsequent figures.

The DevOps Capability Maturity Model series, led by CAICT together with the Cloud Computing Open Source Industry Alliance, Efficient Operations Community, BATJ and major internet, financial and telecom enterprises, is the first domestic and international DevOps series standard, the most complete and authoritative guide. It has been released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and adopted by many leading firms.

In July 2020, the DevOps standard was concluded by the United Nations‑affiliated standardization organization ITU‑T, becoming the world’s first international DevOps standard. The overall DevOps architecture includes processes (agile development management, continuous delivery, technical operations), application design, security and risk management, system and tools, business value management, collaborative development and operations, continuous testing, and more.
