The August 2023 release of Visual Studio Code (v1.93) introduces a unified Profiles editor, enhanced Linux window controls, Django unit‑test support, richer IntelliSense on vscode.dev, a Notebook diff viewer, keyboard column resizing, a dedicated Source Control Graph view, and several GitHub Copilot enhancements.
Visual Studio Code released its August 2023 update, version 1.93, bringing a collection of new features and enhancements for developers.
Profiles editor – A unified entry point for switching and managing configuration profiles, allowing users to create, edit, delete, import, and export profiles.
Optimized Linux window controls – Adds the setting window.experimentalControlOverlay , which displays native window controls even when window.titleBarStyle is set to a custom title bar.
Django unit‑test support – Enables discovery and execution of Django tests directly from the Test Explorer.
IntelliSense on vscode.dev – Provides package typings and full project IntelliSense in Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox; Safari is not supported due to the missing ReadableByteStreamController API.
Notebook diff viewer – Allows efficient viewing of notebook changes by collapsing unchanged cells.
Keyboard column resizing – Introduces the command list.resizeColumn to resize table columns via keyboard input.
Source Control Graph – Moves the history graph to a new view, reducing information overload and allowing users to hide, collapse, or move the view as needed.
GitHub Copilot enhancements – Adds context to quick chat, improves test generation, and preserves chat history.
Experimental custom Copilot commands – Lets users define specific code‑generation instructions for Copilot.
