Recap of the 2023 Zhuhai Software Engineering Technical Salon: AI New Technologies Impact on the Software Industry

On June 7, 2023, the IDCF Community and the Zhuhai Software Engineering Technology Research Center jointly held the first technical salon of the Zhuhai Software Engineering Research Center at Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai College, attracting more than 80 attendees.

The event, themed “AI New Technologies Impact on the Software Industry,” featured speeches by IDCF co‑founder Xu Lei, officials from the Zhuhai Science and Technology Development Promotion Association, the Zhuhai Software Association, and university leaders, all discussing how artificial intelligence is reshaping software engineering.

The ceremony began with the unveiling of the Zhuhai Software Engineering Research Center, followed by a keynote titled “AI New Technologies Impact on the Software Industry” delivered by Xu Lei, chief architect/CEO of LE ANSOFT, Microsoft MVP, and DevOps expert. Xu highlighted AI‑assisted programming, algorithm design, and testing, emphasizing both the powerful advantages of AI and the challenges developers face.

The keynote was followed by a lively Q&A session where industry representatives, educators, and students asked about AI adoption, talent needs, and future career paths.

The final segment was a round‑table discussion on “Excellence Software Engineer Training Model,” bringing together university teachers, industry experts, and student representatives to exchange ideas on curriculum design, practical project collaboration, and the skills required for AI‑focused software engineering.

In conclusion, the organizers reminded participants of the importance of data security when using AI tools, urging encryption, compliance with data protection regulations, and vigilance against cyber threats.

IDCF also provided attendees with a “DevOps Talent Growth Roadmap,” outlining 18 key roles in a full‑function DevOps team to help organizations plan talent development and career paths.
