Meitu Internet Technology Salon: Big Data Architecture Evolution and Practice, and Tencent Multi‑Dimensional Analysis Platform

On November 26, 2016, Meitu hosted the 3rd Meitu Internet Technology Salon in Xiamen, themed “Big Data Architecture and Practice”. More than 150 senior technology professionals attended. The speakers were Meitu senior technology manager Lu Rongbin and Tencent development engineer Zhao Shiyuan, who shared their practical experiences on the big‑data journey.

Lu Rongbin presented the evolution of Meitu’s foundational data architecture from zero to one, describing how Meitu collects, cleans, and stores massive user data, the core services built to support rapid growth of product and operation data, and the challenges encountered during platform construction.

In the early stage, when the overall user volume was relatively small, Meitu used rsync and shell scripts for data statistics. To overcome the limitations of single‑point storage capacity, compute resources, and lack of real‑time capability, Meitu introduced an Agent collector that ensures non‑intrusive data acquisition and implemented an automated Agent update mechanism.

As data volume continuously expanded, Meitu developed a mobile data platform to meet the basic data needs of mobile clients and established an open statistical platform to satisfy independent data requirements of various Meitu mobile products.

Zhao Shiyuan introduced Tencent’s Glacier multi‑dimensional analysis platform, which leverages massive user‑profile tags extracted from user behavior data. The platform provides fast and accurate query capabilities across numerous dimension combinations, enabling targeted operations and analytical work.

The salon also aimed to build a high‑quality technical exchange community in South China, regularly inviting experts from leading internet companies such as Panda TV and Wangsu Technology to discuss hot technical topics.

The event was announced in advance on the WeChat public account “Meitu Internet Technology Salon”, and live video streams and recordings were made available on the Meipai account “MTC”.
