Huawei Registered the Vision Pro Trademark Years Before Apple’s Release

Last week Apple announced its first mixed-reality headset, Vision Pro, slated for early next‑year release in the United States.

Interestingly, Huawei had already registered the Vision Pro trademark in 2019; the trademark’s exclusive rights run from 28 November 2021 to 27 November 2031 and cover categories such as LCD TVs, head‑mounted virtual‑reality devices, and radio equipment.

Huawei’s registration was not aimed at Apple; the company had previously launched products named Vision, including Vision Glass, the Huawei Vision smart‑screen series, and even a cloud phone called Vision in 2011.

If Apple continues to use the Vision Pro name in China, it could face infringement risks. Apple might either rename the product for the domestic market (e.g., Vision Plus or Vision Ultra) or negotiate a trademark‑sharing or licensing agreement with Huawei.
