The bank’s technology director Hu Hao explained the background, benefits, and future plans, emphasizing that the assessment validated their DevOps capabilities, improved delivery efficiency, and set the stage for further DevSecOps integration, metric‑driven improvement, and cloud‑native adoption.

Key Insights from the Interview

Hu highlighted the bank’s digital transformation since 2018, the development of an in‑house DevOps platform, and the collaborative model between product teams and the DevOps engineering team that drove automation, testing, and containerized micro‑service architecture.

Metrics such as unit‑test coverage, full‑stack API testing, release frequency (over four times per month), and a 10‑day delivery cycle were cited as concrete outcomes.

Future Directions

The bank plans to strengthen full‑lifecycle security (DevSecOps), enhance data‑driven performance monitoring, and expand the DevOps platform across more teams to support its ongoing digital transformation.

About the DevOps Maturity Model

The DevOps Capability Maturity Model, jointly developed by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and industry partners, defines five levels of maturity and covers agile management, continuous delivery, operations, design, security, and tool integration. It became the first international DevOps standard approved by ITU‑T in July 2020.
