How to Seamlessly Migrate Your Domain and DNS to JD Cloud

Before starting, understand that domain registration and domain resolution are two independent services. Many registrars (e.g., Wanwang, Xinwang) offer a one‑stop solution, but the registration and DNS can be managed separately.

JD Cloud’s domain service uses Xinwang’s product, and JD Cloud cannot restrict Xinwang’s DNS records, which can point to any cloud provider’s IP.

How to Smoothly Migrate an Active Domain to JD Cloud

Below is a detailed operation guide using the example where both registration and resolution are originally with Wanwang.

*Note: To avoid downtime, the overall process can be divided into two phases.

Phase 1 – Keep Domain Registration Unchanged, Transfer DNS to JD Cloud

Prepare DNS data Export the DNS records from the current provider in Alibaba Cloud Excel format.

Import DNS data into JD Cloud DNS

Add the domain in the JD Cloud console.

Import the exported records, selecting the “Alibaba Cloud Excel file format”.

Check import results

Verify the number of records, CNAME, mail records, etc.

Confirm the domain is effective in JD Cloud DNS by running: dig www.example.com @freens1.jdgslb.com Modify DNS service to point to JD Cloud

In the Wanwang console, change the DNS to JD Cloud’s NS servers (freens1.jdgslb.com, freens2.jdgslb.com).

Switch business to JD Cloud Update the domain’s CNAME record to point to JD Cloud servers.

Phase 2 – Transfer Domain Registration to JD Cloud

Before transferring, purchase a one‑year renewal on JD Cloud (the “small‑霸王” clause), which extends the domain’s validity by one year.

Create a domain information template and complete real‑name verification on JD Cloud

Set domain transfer out on the original registrar In the Wanwang console, request a transfer out and obtain the transfer password.

Submit a domain transfer request on JD Cloud Follow JD Cloud’s transfer guide to complete the process.
