How to Reset the BootROM Login Password on a Huawei Switch via Console or Telnet

After logging into the device through the console or telnet, use the command reset boot password to reset the BootROM login password to its default value; if you cannot log in and have forgotten the console password, the device may need to be returned to the factory.

1. Restart the switch and wait for the BIOS loading screen. Press Ctrl+B to enter the BootROM menu (default password is usually admin ). The BootROM menu options are:

1. Boot with default mode 2. Enter serial submenu 3. Enter startup submenu 4. Enter ethernet submenu 5. Enter file system submenu 6. Modify BootROM password 7. Clear password for console user 8. Reboot

Select option 7 and confirm with y to clear the console user password. After the password is cleared, choose option 1 to boot the device and immediately set a new password; do not select option 8 (Reboot) or power off the device, as this would prevent the change from taking effect.

2. For static IP binding, use the following commands:

user-bind static ip-address 192.168.1.2 mac-address

interface GigabitEthernet 0/0/1

ip source check user-bind enable
