How Capability Platforms Empower Intelligent Container Cloud Operations

On April 7‑8, the 20th GOPS Global Operations Conference organized by GreatOPS was held in Shenzhen. Tian Guoliang, an expert from China Mobile Jiangsu IT Center, delivered a keynote titled “Freeing Operations Hands: Capability Platform Enables Intelligent Container‑Cloud Operations,” sharing the company’s practice of empowering smart operations across industries.

Tian explained that as systems migrate to the cloud, the complexity of container‑cloud resource and topology relationships increases, making traditional operations insufficient for complex, data‑intensive scenarios. China Mobile leverages its capability platform as a new engine and driver, applying high‑quality capabilities to container‑cloud operation scenes and exploring new paths for intelligent operations.

The capability platform, a core component of China Mobile’s “two new types,” integrates artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data, and other information technologies to inject intelligence across all industry domains, significantly boosting total factor productivity. In IT operations, it accelerates the convergence of AI, machine learning, and big data, advancing operations toward digital, networked, and intelligent transformation, thereby enhancing both efficiency and system performance.

Specifically, the platform’s system health‑score and intelligent inspection capabilities collect massive data on container resources, metrics, logs, and alarms, automatically monitoring and capturing problem details. This markedly improves inspection and diagnosis efficiency, helping operators quickly identify faults and risks. Unsupervised anomaly‑detection and log‑analysis algorithms detect anomalies in the massive data, presenting results by architectural layers and visualizing health‑score overviews, issue lists, and alarm information. Dynamic threshold monitoring and multi‑dimensional perception further accelerate anomaly identification, while AI models boost inspection and analysis speed.

Looking ahead, China Mobile plans to deepen the platform’s support for operations by exploring upstream‑downstream SRE practices to iterate container‑cloud stability and building SLA‑aware optimal scheduling capabilities to strengthen the scheduling engine.

Ultimately, the company will continuously refine capability quality, enrich its content, and dig deeper into key operational scenarios, delivering more and better solutions that enable a shift from intelligent to wisdom‑driven operations.
