Get VMware Fusion & Workstation Free: Complete Registration & Installation Guide
This guide explains why developers still need virtual machines, the high cost of VMware, the recent release of a free personal version, and provides a detailed step‑by‑step process—including registration, download links, and installation instructions—to get VMware Fusion or Workstation up and running on macOS or Windows.
Before Docker became mainstream, many projects used virtual machines to host multiple environments on a single server. Developers often need different operating systems for testing, and buying separate hardware or cloud instances can be costly.
VMware is a popular solution, but its Fusion (macOS) and Workstation (Windows) editions traditionally required a paid subscription of about $120 per year, which many individuals find expensive.
Recently, VMware released a free personal-use version for both macOS and Windows, allowing developers to run virtual machines without paying.
