Design and Architecture of an IBPM Workflow Platform

Background: The workflow platform integrates BPM business processes with workflow to provide a unified, standardized, and digitized management platform covering the entire lifecycle of business process management.

Due to rapid growth in daily business processes, a configurable workflow design and management platform is urgently needed, enabling users to design, publish, and adapt processes, with integrated design, version control, approver management, rule management, and messaging.

IBPM workflow basic concepts: It is built on BPM, service-oriented architecture, and data integration to achieve configurable, publishable processes, unified messaging, role, and rule management, reducing development costs.

Goals include drag-and-drop B/S configurable design, process version and instance monitoring, improved development standards, reduced costs, seamless integration with other systems and mobile, and features such as integration, convenience, and digitization.

Design principles emphasize rich process interfaces, openness, extensibility, configuration-driven development, and ease of use. The platform architecture consists of six modules: process monitoring, external application integration, process referencing, interface services, daily management, and the process engine.

Client-side configurable design supports four node types—approver, program, loop, and cancel/end—allowing business rules to compose configurable workflows.

Extensibility: The platform integrates with existing OA and task approval systems, offering unified form and process design, custom forms, and scenario-specific integrations, forming a smart business process management project.

Conclusion: The described workflow platform provides a foundation for intelligent, standardized, and efficient IBPM development, with ongoing exploration needed to achieve greater automation and smart capabilities.
