Database Industry Collaboration Forum at CNCC 2020 Featuring OceanBase

From October 22‑24, the annual CNCC conference on computing technology will be held in Beijing, featuring a “Database Industry‑School Cooperation Exploration” forum with four senior experts sharing experiences and discussing new industry‑academia innovation models and talent ecosystem strategies.

Databases, like operating systems, are fundamental software; Chinese database development has progressed over 40 years and is now growing rapidly.

OceanBase, Ant Group’s self‑developed distributed relational database, supports major services such as Alipay and has been proven in large‑scale financial scenarios, becoming the only enterprise‑grade distributed relational database worldwide validated by extensive financial workloads.

OceanBase is also fostering ecosystems across industry, partners, talent, and technology, and has signed a strategic cooperation with East China Normal University to establish a joint laboratory for distributed databases, aiming to cultivate top technical talent.

The forum agenda on October 23 includes presentations by Yang Chuanhui (Ant Group) on database industry practice, Qian Weining (ECNU) on application‑driven research and talent cultivation, Peng Zhiyong (Wuhan University) on domestic database development talent training, and Liang Liuhong (Ant Group) on building a comprehensive academic‑talent ecosystem for OceanBase.

Speaker biographies highlight Yang’s role as OceanBase R&D General Manager and chief architect, Qian’s extensive academic achievements and involvement in national research projects, Peng’s contributions to object‑proxy database models and PostgreSQL analysis, and Liang’s experience in cloud computing and ecosystem partnerships.

The forum aims to accelerate the establishment of a new database ecosystem, support developers and DBAs, and promote independent innovation in the database industry.
