Augmented‑reality (AR) navigation combines visual technology with navigation data, overlaying guidance directly onto the real‑world scene, thereby reducing the cognitive load of receiving and interpreting instructions.

Definition of AR navigation : By capturing the forward road view with a camera, applying mobile‑side visual recognition algorithms to identify key navigation elements such as lane markings, surrounding vehicles, and relative lane positions, and fusing this information with GPS‑based map data, a virtual guidance model is generated and rendered onto the live scene (see Figure 1).
