According to incomplete statistics, China had about 91 million science and technology workers in 2021, ranking first worldwide, and May 30, 2022 marked the sixth National Science Workers Day.

To celebrate, several Ant Group technologists shared their experiences, representing the broader spirit of exploring unknown and risky frontiers in technology.

1. Green Carbon‑Reduction Technology

After six years in resource scheduling, the team launched a green carbon‑reduction solution that brings Ant closer to carbon‑neutral goals. By joining a low‑carbon patent pledge, seven related patents were opened for free. Continuous investment in cloud‑native, trusted, and resource‑efficiency infrastructure has doubled daily data‑center utilization and raised mixed‑cluster usage to 40%, reaching international advanced levels. Recent upgrades to the green‑computing stack and unified compute‑storage scheduling have expanded energy‑saving coverage while maintaining container performance balance.

2. Trusted Privacy Sandbox for Mobile Anti‑Fraud

Facing network fraud and gambling‑related risks, the team developed AntDTX, a “trusted privacy sandbox” that can be deployed on terminals. Collaborations with Honor and vivo integrated this sandbox into Magic 4 and X Fold phones, enabling on‑device risk assessment and reducing data flow to the cloud, thereby protecting user information and funds.

The solution, initially speculative, matured through iterative feedback and is now shipping on market devices. It has also been submitted to the China Communications Standardization Association (CCSA) for standardization, aiming to become an industry consensus.

3. Open‑Source Privacy‑Computing Platform “YinYu”

The team completed the first release of the YinYu trusted privacy‑computing platform, handling code freeze, review, phased open‑source planning, and related community activities. The goal is to provide a unified framework that consolidates multiple technical routes, moving beyond single‑technology open‑source projects.

4. Collaboration with Universities to Cultivate Domestic Database Talent

Ant served as a problem‑setter for the inaugural OceanBase Database Competition, attracting 1,179 teams from 246 universities worldwide. The competition fostered a step‑by‑step learning path for over 2,000 database enthusiasts, helping to address the severe talent shortage in China’s database industry.

5. Security Parallel Slice Development

Since 2019, Ant has built a “security parallel slice” system, initially collaborating with a blue‑team to develop the Awatch Java injection framework, later evolving into the multi‑language, multi‑layer Space5D architecture. During the 2021 Double‑Eleven shopping festival, Space5D protected 36 million containers, performing 2.2 billion security checks in one minute. The technology was recognized as a top‑ten hard‑core innovation and is now being open‑sourced to benefit the broader industry.

These initiatives illustrate Ant Group’s commitment to sustainable computing, robust security, open‑source collaboration, and talent development across multiple technology domains.
