1. Your AI Assistant Has Been "Subverted"

You may not have noticed, but AI is already betraying programmers.

This is not hype: Pillar Security’s report provides evidence of AI "betrayal".

The report warns that AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor can be maliciously manipulated, becoming accomplices of hackers and spreading security risks to every programmer who uses them.

AI development is accelerating—from simple dialogue to image recognition, artistic creation, and now deep reasoning. As AI speeds up, human control weakens, just like a driver losing grip on a fast car.

Our AI programming security team deeply researched the "AI assistant betrayal" risk and reproduced the entire process in a sandbox, revealing that AI assistants have silently broken safety agreements with humans.

2. Reason for AI Assistant Betrayal – Configuration File Poisoning

What is a configuration file?

Configuration files (rule files) are rule files used by AI coding assistants, containing high‑quality prompts and configuration parameters—essentially preset settings that guide the assistant to produce higher‑quality code.

Developers can create and share their own configuration files, or use community‑provided presets.

Poisoning process

Hackers embed malicious prompts using invisible Unicode characters into otherwise normal prompts, creating a "blackened" configuration file.

The poisoned file is then published to open‑source communities. Developers download it unaware of the hidden payload.

After downloading, the poison is stored in a hidden directory of the project and remains undetected. The AI assistant (e.g., Cursor) loads this poisoned configuration file, and the developer continues coding with it, unaware of the danger.

Require every piece of code to pass sandbox testing before production.
